This paper appraises the legal framework for the electable executives in Nigeria. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 9as amended), the Electoral Act, 2010, Subsediary legislations such as INEC Manual, Practice Directives and Local Government Laws of various states such as Sokoto and Kebbi State are the body of laws and rules that govern elections into the offices of the electable executives in Nigeria. The main objective of this paper is to examine the extent at which these laws and rules are adequate in regulating elec_ons to the offices of the executives in Nigeria. The methodology employed in the conduct of this research is doctrinal which connotes the consultation of both primary and secondary sources available in the public and academic libraries. The paper observed that the laws that govern elections into the offices of the electable executives in Nigeria are not adequate to regulate same. This can be seen from various lacunas therein. Thus, it is recommended that the provisions of these laws regulating elections into the offices of the electable executives in Nigeria be amended in such a way that they can effectively and efficiently regulate same.
